Geteno and Jenae Cycles Cambodia 2015

Story

HERE WE GO!!!!!

My name is Geteno and I am 40 years of age and my name is Jenae and I am 30 smiley

We are a married Couple of 9 years and have 4 fantastic children

This year we have decided to take on a challenge of a life time by registration to join Epilepsy Action Australia - Cycle Cambodia 2015.

This Journey of a lifetime will see us Cycle 350 km through Cambodia to help raise much needed vital funds for education and awareness for the people and their families effected by Epilepsy throughout Australia.
Our Drive to be apart of and complete this upcoming challenge is certain to be a familiar story to any who lives with the affects of being diagnosed with Epilepsy. Just a quick note from both perspectives a to let you know how it effects us in different way.

Geteno- I was diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of 15, it took a long time to come to terms with it and even longer to control due to the lack of understanding and services available. Having Epilepsy is something I had kept within a very tight circle of family and good mates until 7or 8 years ago when a great friend of mine and then school principal asked if I could share my experience. There are many words that come with being diagnosed with Epilepsy but understanding, pain, hurt and fear stand out, understanding of Epilepsy as I have had great mates cry for and with me as they like me battled to understand the disorder,   pain for myself in recovery after a seizure, hurt on my family and friends during and after seizures and fear I see in my own children's eyes as they ask day and night everyday "Dad have you had your pills". Doing the EAA Cycle Cambodia is a challenge I look forward to as we raise the much needed funds for Epilepsy awareness across Australia.

Jenae- I met Geteno going on 14 years ago, he was a fit healthy strong football player. I was instantly drawn to his confidents and  personality. Geteno told me straight away that both his brother and himself was diagnosed with Epilepsy and take Grand Mal seizers. It wasn't until close to 2 years into our relationship when he had his first seizer and that was when I seen Geteno in a different light. The strong fit footballer full of confidence became vulnerable and full of pain, it broke my heart. I have seen Geteno struggle with Epilepsy for years and it became harder the first time I seen the look on our babies faces when they seen there daddy take a turn. Geteno Seizer have increased  through the years and is now taking Clonic-Tonic types more frequently then previous. Our daughter has suffered anxiety even since witnessing him take a few in a row in 2013 which lead to spending days in and out of hospital over a month, we call her his alarm clock because no matter where they are 6 o'clock every night she tells him to take his pills.

We both  hold this Challenge dear to our hearts and this is why we ask all of our family, friends and community members to dig deep and help us take the most amazing adventure of a life time and help this amazing cause. Every donation over $2 is tax deductable and you will receive a receipt via email. Please follow our journey and a big thanks to everyone who supports us.

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.

Thanks so much for your support!
